FireShield Off-Grid Pool Package
Designed, manufactured and installed by FireShield for your property.
Wildfire protection that keeps pumping when the grid goes down.
During the Bryson Fire, Malibu has now been without grid power for three days (as of Oct. 16, 2026). The power was cut, so nobody has it. A pool pump wired to the house, automated or not, is not running unless a working generator is connected to it.
A specialized, efficient pump system that draws from your pool and feeds the roof zones at full design pressure, with no generator, no inverter and no grid power.
Designed and manufactured by FireShield. Available exclusively from FireShield.

What you don’t need
- Solar power
- Battery wall

- Unlimited budget
A complete FireShield system: engineered for your pool and property, installed and serviced by the FireShield team, and tied into the same FireShield controller and app that run your zones.
Why it matters
The grid is the weak point, and the utilities are saying so
Malibu already runs on low water pressure, and during a fire the pressure always drops further as everyone draws at once. That is why FireShield systems pump from the pool. But a pump needs power, and power is the first thing to go.
Southern California Edison, PG&E and other utilities now cut electricity on purpose during high wind and high fire risk, and LADWP has said it may do the same. These public safety shutoffs can run for days. During the Bryson Fire above Malibu in October 2026, parts of the city had already been without power under a safety shutoff before the fire started, and the outage went on for days after.
One member of our team is hosting a friend from Malibu this week: not evacuated, no fire at the house, just no power and no air conditioning. That is what a shutoff looks like for most people. For a wildfire defense system, it is the night it has to work.

A regular pump stops with the grid
A pool pump wired to the house is only as reliable as the house power
The competition installs a regular pump and connects it to the pool. When the utility shuts the power off, that pump does nothing. The only way around it is a generator, and not everyone has one.
A generator is its own project: fuel that goes stale, a battery that goes flat, oil, filters, a test run every month, a service contract. It costs money to keep, and it is hard to keep ready for the one night you need it most. Many of them do not start when that night comes.
How FireShield keeps pumping
No generator. No inverter. No grid.
The FireShield Off-Grid Pool Package runs directly from the FireShield Power Hub. It makes itself ready from your pool without anyone touching it, feeds your FireShield sprinklers at the pressure they were designed for, and keeps going for 6, 8, 10 or 16 hours, whichever runs out first: the water or the Power Hub.
FireShield Pump Controller
Runs the pump straight from the FireShield Power Hub. Soft start, so there is no surge. Watches the Power Hub and shuts down cleanly before it is empty.
FireShield Sequencer
The FireShield brain for the pump. It runs every start in the right order, confirms water before the pump runs, recovers on its own if the line loses water, runs a short weekly self-test and reports status to your FireShield system. Built in-house.
FireShield Intake Module
Makes the pump ready from an empty suction line, every time, with no hand priming. Keeps debris out and gives a visual check that the line is full.
Designed and manufactured by FireShield. Available exclusively from FireShield. The package is sized, configured and installed by FireShield for your pool, your battery and your property.
What to plan for
Ranges, so you know what you are looking at
Exact sizing comes from a site visit. These are the ranges most homes land in.
- Power
- A specialized FireShield Power Hub, sized for your property.
- Power Hub size
- An overnight run at full flow takes roughly 12 to 20 kWh from the FireShield Power Hub. Longer runs scale with the hub.
- Water
- A pool or a tank. A typical pool carries most of a night at full flow.
- Flow and pressure
- The flow and pressure your FireShield zones are designed for.
- Runtime
- 6, 8, 10 or 16 hours, depending on your pool capacity.
- Site
- A pad near the pool for the pump and a shaded, vented spot for the electronics.
Questions
Common questions
- Does it need a generator or inverter?
- No. It runs directly from the FireShield Power Hub.
- How long will it run?
- Until the water or the FireShield Power Hub runs out, whichever comes first. For most pools, that is a full night. FireShield works the numbers for your property.
- How do I know it will work when I need it?
- The FireShield Sequencer runs a short test every week and reports to your FireShield system.
- What does it cost?
- It depends on the pool, the bank and the site. Contact FireShield for a design and a quote.
